“We just want our daughter to be happy and confident and get a good education.”
She probed deeper. “What do you mean by good?” she asked. “Some parents aim for Ivy League admissions or view school as merely supplemental, relying on outside tutoring for a ‘real’ education, given the shortcomings of the U.S. education system.” It was … a lot. To this day, I still struggle to define “good,” and sometimes I question why I don’t have a clearer picture of what my child’s educational goals should be.
